Welsh Recipes

A great way to understand a culture is to understand their food:

Welsh cuisine is base on the simple preparation of fresh ingredients and is historically prepared with simple ingredients. Mainstays include pork, oats, cabbage, and of course leeks. Near the coast seafood is predominant, as are sheep in the mountain valleys.

Some very Welsh dishes are:
Leek Soup
A tradional soup-like stew, pronounced "Cowl"
Laver Bread, fritters made with mild sea vegetable and oats, often served for breakfast with cockles (small sweet clams) simmered in butter or pork fat.
Tea Bread, made with raisins or other dried fruits, sliced thin and served with butter.

Chocos a Lawr Cockles and Laver, with Bacon

Ffagodau "Faggots" Welsh Pork Meatballs
Welsh Griddle Cakes, like shortbread, only better. Our favourite recipe.
A Welsh take on Scalloped Potatos

Wyau enwys Mon "Anglsey Eggs" an Egg and Potatoe Casserol with Cheese
